Typhoon Jolina (Conson) whipped Eastern Visayas on Tuesday, threatening heavy rains in large parts of the Visayas and Luzon in the next two days, PAGASA said.
The 10th storm of 2021 is moving northeast and is expected to make landfall later in the day in Masbate and southern Quezon before crossing Central Luzon.
The storm was packing maximum sustained winds of up to 120 kilometers per hour with 180kph gusts at 4 a.m., shortly after landfall in Sto Nino, Samar. It is expected to weaken as it moves inland, PAGASA said.
Jolina also made landfall over Hernani, Eastern Samar at 10 p.m. Monday shortly after intensifying into a typhoon, and in Daram, Samar at 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Signal no. 3, or winds of up to 170 kph, was raised over:

This means possible light to medium damagw to low risk structures, and slight damage to houses made of very light materials in exposed communities.
PAGASA warned those living in coastal areas of Eastern Samar, Samar, and Masbate to be on alert due to the threat of storm surge of up to one meter.
It also warned mariners against sea travel in areas under signal no. 3 and 2.
