Expect cloudy skies in Metro Manila on Thursday, the day President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. takes his oath, PAGASA said Thursday adding thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon until the evening.
Marcos will be sworn in as the country's 17th president at noon. Organizers of the event at the National Museum grounds in downtown Manila have set up canopies to shield the stage and the audience areas from possible rains.
Tropical depression Caloy, which is drifting farther away from the country's western coast, will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon or habagat, bringing rains over the western portions of Luzon and the Visayas, said weather forecaster Benison Estareja.

Monsoon rains and thunderstorms are expected in the next 24 hours in Palawan, Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Zambales, Bataan, Aurora, and Quezon, he said.
PAGASA is also monitoring a low pressure area east of Northern Luzon, which can also enhance the habagat. It will be given the local name Domeng if it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility as a tropical depression, said Estareja.
