Party-lists need to register with the Commission on Elections on March 31, an official of the poll body said Tuesday as the Philippines gears up for the 2022 national elections.

When filing their petition for registration,  Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said party-lists need to submit proof of publication of their nominees.

"'Yung petition for registration ng party lists, sana po 'yung mga totoong party-list naman, March 31 na ang deadline ninyo," Guanzon said in an interview with ABS-CBN's Teleradyo.

"At ngayon, para walang gulo-gulo, pagsubmit niyo ng list of nominees ninyo, may proof of publication na kayo sa newspapers of national circulation," she said.

In an earlier statement, the Comelec said the March 31 deadline also covers existing party-list groups, organizations, and coalitions.

Party-lists that are keen on registering need to submit five nominees for party-list representatives.

In case of substitution of party-list nominees due to withdrawal, the Comelec said the deadline is on Nov. 15, 2021 but if the substitution is due to death or incapacity, substitution is allowed until mid-day of election day.
