Step On the Blue Markers Please, Mayor Vico Tells Commuters

Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto found a simple way to get thousands of commuters practice physical distancing at a transport depot -- blue markers on the floor. Step on it to keep safe from COVID-19.

Almost 8,000 passengers wait for a ride on the sidewalk every morning at the Pasig Market Depot. Queues move slowly during rush hour, with only a handful of public utility jeepneys back on the road and the limited capacity of buses.

"Hindi rin naman natin sila itataboy, dahil karamihan sa kanila ay papuntang trabaho (We can't drive them away because most of them are on their way to work)," Sotto wrote.

"Salamat dahil sumusunod ang karamihan sa mga mananakay sa tamang social distancing (I thank the majority of passengers who follow proper social distancing)."

The city is also set to release the first batch of TAPAT cash loans for local businesses affected by the pandemic on Friday.
