Pastor Quiboloy Says He Might Run for President, Just to Debate with Pacquiao

He will run under God's party.

Pastor Apollo Quiboloy on Wednesday hinted at a possible presidential candidacy in the 2022 elections to knock out Sen. Manny Pacquiao, who is gunning for Malacanang.

Quiboloy, whom Pacquiao sued for allegedly spreading fake news, also criticized the senator for changing his stance regarding the LGBT community, whom he earlier described as "worse than animals."

"Ganyan yung magiging pangulo ninyo?... Mapipilitan ako [tumakbo] para 'di siya makaiwas sa debate," said Quiboloy, who said that LGBT members have a place in his church, the Davao-based Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name.

"Hintayin natin ang Oct. 8... ngayon hindi ka na makakaiwas 'pag tayo ay nakapag-decide at kalooban ng Ama," he told Pacquiao in his TV program.

Comelec said the filing of certificates of candidacy for the 2022 polls will be from Oct. 1 to 8, 2021.

Quiboloy earlier challenged the senator to a debate to address the alleged misuse of funds for the construction of a sports facility in his home province of Saranggani. Pacquiao jabbed back by lodging a P100-million libel and cyberlibel case against the pastor.

"Sana 'di ako ide-declare na nuisance candidate mas higit pa sa inyo. Kahit wala akong partido, Diyos ang partido ko," said Quiboloy, who calls himself the "Appointed Son of God."
