The Philippines on Wednesday reported over 6,000 new COVID-19 cases, its lowest since the start of the lockdown in Metro Manila and nearby provinces three days ago.
The Department of Health tallied 6,128 new COVID-19 cases to bring the total active cases to 130, 245. Wednesday's new case tally is the lowest in over a week as over 9,000 new infections were being reported daily for the past few days.
There were 106 new deaths reported on Wednesday, bringing the total to 13, 297. There were 491 new recoveries, to bring the total to 603,746.
Since the start of the pandemic, the Philippines has reported a total of 747,288 COVID-19 cases.
The lower case tally reported on Wednesday came as the greater Manila area marked the third day of enhanced community quarantine or ECQ. The stricter restrictions are set to expire on Sunday, Easter Sunday.
