The Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp. officer who admitted that the firm tampered with the expiration dates of face shields they delivered to the government can no longer be contacted, Sen. Richard Gordon said Sunday.
Pharmally officer Krizle Grace Mago, who upon questioning by senators in a previous hearing said her firm might have "swindled" the government, could no longer be reached when the Senate blue ribbon panel reached out to her on Sunday morning.
"[Dalawang] araw matapos ang kanyang pag-amin na niloko ng kompanya ang taumbayan sa pagpapalit ng expiration dates ng face masks at face shields, 'out of reach' na si Ms. Mago," Gordon said in a tweet.
The Senate blue ribbon panel had offered protection to Mago over the testimonies she was giving the committee, but she said she would think about it first.
During the panel's hearing last Friday, Mago admitted that the instruction to change the expiration dates of the face shields came from Pharmally corporate treasurer and secretary Mohit Dargani, who denied it.
In an earlier hearing, Mago also admitted that Pharmally delivered 500,000 pieces of surgical masks to the procurement service of the Department of Budget and Management on the same day the request was issued and despite having no inventory.
Gordon and Sen. Risa Hontiveros expressed concern over Mago's safety. It was Hontiveros who revealed through a video that "soiled and substandard" face shields intended for doctors and health care workers were supplied by Pharmally to the government.
"Dalangin ko na siya'y ligtas at maging bukas na makipagtulungan para sa katotohanan at kagalingan ng mga kapwa niyang nasa healthcare work," Hontiveros said.
"Mananatiling bukas ang aking opisina na tulungan at bigyan proteksyon siya bilang kapwa babae," she added.
Pharmally is being investigated by the Senate after it bagged over P8 billion in contracts to provide medical supplies last year despite having only P625,000 paid-up capital.
