The Philippines is set to elect a new set of leaders and lawmakers on May 9 to define the fate of the nation for the next six years.
A lot is at stake for the upcoming elections with the country reeling from the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Here's a guide from the Commission on Elections on how to exercise your right to vote while staying safe from COVID-19:
1. Go to the voting center between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.
2. Undergo temperature check before entering the voting center.
3. Go to the Voters’ Assistance Desk to know your precinct and sequence numbers as well as the assigned room or clustered precinct.
4. Go to your assigned room and introduce yourself to the Electoral Board by stating your name, precinct number, and sequence number.
5. Get your ballot, ballot secrecy folder, and marking pen.
6. Go to the voting area and vote.
7. To vote, shade the circle before the name of the candidate you wish to vote for. Remember not to over-vote so that yours can be counted.
8. Place your ballot in the Vote Counting Machine.
9. Check your receipt and drop it in the proper bin.
10. Have your right pinky finger marked with indelible ink.
