Volunteers from the Philippine Coast Guard on Thursday rescued Marikina City residents from submerged villages and rooftops at the height of torrential rains brought about by Typhoon Ulysses (Vamco).

The elderly, women, and children were prioritized and were brought to the nearest evacuation center. Pets stuck on roofs were also rescued and boarded on rubber boats.

Trucks and islander planes were also used to survey the area and hasten rescue.
