(UPDATE) Vice President Leni Robredo's voter preference rose by 9 percentage points according to the results of the latest Pulse Asia survey, conducted after thousands of people turned up in her mammoth campaign rallies just two months before the May 9 elections.
The vice president is still the second pick for president if the elections were held during the March 17 to 21 survey period, chosen by 24% of the 2,400 respondents, but higher than the 15% voter preference she got in the February 2022 survey.
The survey results, released on Wednesday, had a margin of error of ± 2% with 95% confidence level. The survey period coincided with the March 20 campaign rally of Robredo in Pasig City --- her biggest so far --- where an estimated 90,000 people attended.
Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. remains as the top choice for president, with 56% of the respondents picking him, down 4 percentage points from 60% in the February 2022 survey.
Marcos and Robredo were followed by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, with 8% voter preference, Sen. Manny Pacquiao with 6%, and Sen. Panfilo Lacson with 2%.
Should their original choice for president withdraw, 23% of the respondents with a first choice for president said they would vote for Moreno, followed by Lacson and Pacquiao both with 13%, Robredo with 10%, and Marcos with 8%.
Marcos' running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, still led the list of preferred vice presidential candidates with 56% voter preference, up by 3 percentage points from 53% in February 2022.
She was followed by Senate President Vicente Sotto III with voter preference of 20%, Sen. Francis Pangilinan with 15%, Dr. Willing Ong with 5%, and Rep. Lito Atienza with 1%.
Those with a first choice for vice president are most inclined to choose Sotto as their alternative candidate for the post, with 34% voter preference, followed by Pangilinan with 14%, Ong with 11%, Duterte-Carpio with 7%, and Atienza with 2%.
Of the 64 candidates for senator, 14 have a statistical chance of winning according to the Pulse Asia March poll. The list is once again led by broadcaster Raffy Tulfo chosen by 65.6% of likely voters, followed by Antique Rep. Loren Legarda in second to fourth places, former Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and Sorsogon Gov. Francis Escudero in second to fifth places, and former DPWH Sec. Mark Villar in third to seventh places.
For the partylist elections, eight groups obtained a voter preference of at least 2% of the total number of votes, which means they are likely to secure at least one seat in the House of Representatives.
These are ACT-CIS (9.09%), Ako Bicol (6.46%), Ang Probinsiyano (4.48%), An Waray (3.68%), Senior Citizens Partylist (3.03%), Gabriela (2.66%), 4PS (2.27%), and Ako Ilocano Ako (2.14%).
