Queen Elizabeth II said she was grateful for Filipino healthcare workers in the United Kingdom during the COVID-19 pandemic, hailing them for bringing exceptional care to patients.
In her message to President Rodrigo Duterte, the 95-year-old monarch sent her best wishes to Filipinos as the Philippines and the UK celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations.
"We are fortunate to have many nurses from the Philippines in the National Health Service. They bring exceptional care and comfort to their patients," she said.
"I wanted to express my sincerest gratitude for their work, especially in response to the coronavirus."
In a separate video message, Prince Charles also thanked Filipino medical workers in the UK for their contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2020, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in Britain, journalist Piers Morgan also praised migrant Filipinos there for "saving people's lives."
Filipina nurse May Parsons administered the first ever COVID-19 vaccination in U.K. in December 2020.
