Red Cross Offers Drive-Thru Saliva Tests at SM Malls

The Philippine Red Cross on Tuesday launched drive-thru collection centers for saliva RT-PCR tests at SM Mall of Asia and SM Megamall, part of their efforts to bring more affordable testing close to the public.

The samples obtained will be sent to molecular laboratories for processing using RT-PCR machines, with results released in 12 to 24 hours.

Saliva testing skips the discomfort of the usual swab or RT-PCR test as it uses an individual's saliva as sample. This type of testing is cheaper and quicker than others, with a price tag of P2,000.
