(UPDATE) Leyte 4th District Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez plans to switch places with husband Ormoc Mayor Richard Gomez in the 2022 elections instead of running for a Senate seat, the city's official Facebook page said.

Mayor Richard will run to represent the fourth district of Leyte, while Lucy will run for mayor of Ormoc, completing the lineup of the Ormoc Development Team, the city government said in a post on Wednesday.

Senate President Vicente Sotto III, who listed Lucy as a senatorial candidate under his tandem with Sen. Panfilo Lacson, confirmed that the congresswoman is no longer running for the Senate.

"[Former] Speaker [Pantaleon] Alvarez just met with Lucy. She has decided not to run for the Senate and instead for mayor of Ormoc," Sotto told reporters.

Apart from the Lacson-Sotto ticket, Lucy was also named one of the Senate bets of the PDP-Laban faction that endorsed the tandem of Sen. Bong Go and President Rodrigo Duterte for president and vice president in 2022.
