Hitmaker Adele said she lost 100 pounds to overcome her anxiety through exercise, setting fire to observations that it was a divorce "revenge body".

The Grammy-winner has been flaunting a trimmer figure since 2020, one year after her split with husband Simon Konecki. Fans loved British-born Adele no matter the size for her haunting heartbreak ballads.

“It was because of my anxiety. Working out, I would just feel better. It was never about losing weight, it was always about becoming strong and giving myself as much time every day without my phone. I got quite addicted to it," she told British Vogue.

She does weights in the morning, hiking or boxing in the afternoon, and cardio at night. It was a way to fight anxiety following the divorce, which left her feeling embarrassed because unlike other women, she was unable to "make something work" in their marriage.

"At the time it broke my heart, but I actually find it so interesting now. How we’re [women] told to suck it up. Well, fuck that," the 33-year-old single mother to Angelo said.

Unlike other celebrities who flaunt their workouts on social media, Adele's weightloss journey was largely kept private. She said she didn't find it fascinating enough to document on Instagram.

"They’re used to people documenting everything on Instagram, and most people in my position would get a big deal with a diet brand. I couldn’t give a flying fuck. I did it for myself and not anyone else," Adele said, pointing out how the the public obsessed about her weight for 12 years.

The singer revived her dormant  accounts with a 21-second clip teasing a new song, "Easy On Me." Unlike her other albums which dealt with romantic heartbreak, her fourth album "30" is her love letter to Angelo, who at age eight cannot fathom why his parents are now living separately.

“I just felt like I wanted to explain to him, through this record, when he’s in his twenties or thirties, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness," the Grammy Award winner said.

"It made him really unhappy sometimes. And that’s a real wound for me that I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to heal.”

Adele names her albums after her age when she was recording the music. She said of her new music: “I feel like this album is self-destruction, then self-reflection and then sort of self-redemption. But I feel ready. I really want people to hear my side of the story this time.”
