Senatorial candidate Robin Padilla on Saturday urged Bongbong Marcos supporters to protect their votes on May 9 against any form of cheating, even if they have to skip sleep during the counting.

Padilla told attendees of Marcos and running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio's miting de avance in Parañaque City that they should not let the results of the 2016 elections happen again.

"Kitang-kita na natin na panalong-panalo na si Bongbong Marcos at si Inday Sara Duterte. Sa lahat ng lupalop ng Pilipinas, pinuntahan namin ang lahat ng tao, ang sinisigaw BBM-Duterte," he said.

"Ngayon, mga kababayan, hahayaan ba natin na mangyari ulit ang 2016? Walang tulugan 'to!" he added.

Initial election tallies released a few hours after the 2016 polls closed showed that Marcos was leading the vice presidential race by at least one million, but it disappeared overnight with then-Rep. Leni Robredo overtaking him by a little over 235,000 votes the following night.

Unconvinced by the election results, Marcos lodged an electoral protest against Robredo before the Supreme Court, which the high court eventually junked for lack of merit.

Padilla said Marcos was cheated in the 2016 elections, telling their supporters that this should no longer be the case on Monday's vote.

"Hindi na pwede yan. Ngayon, babantayan natin ang boto. Tandaan ninyo ang ipaglalaban natin ngayon ang ating pagka-Pilipino. Huwag tayong papayag. Kapag tayo nadaya pa, ewan ko na," he added.

Marcos also earlier came out with a video rallying his supporters to guard their ballots from "theft."

The son of the late dictator is the top pick for president based on the final pre-election survey of Pulse Asia with a wide margin against Robredo, who is now counting on the mammoth rallies she was able to mount at the homestretch of the campaign to win.
