Senator-elect Robin Padilla on Sunday thanked Kris Aquino for helping him in his campaign for the May 9 elections, showing how his friendship with the actress transcends politics.

The 52-year-old action star who topped the senatorial race shared on Facebook how his friendship with Aquino knows "no explanations, no dramas" even as they supported rival political factions. He ran for senator under president-elect Bongbong Marcos, while the actress openly supported Vice President Leni Robredo.

"Hindi man kayo nagkikita, nag-aaway man kayo, hindi man kayo nagpapansinan, pero kapag naramdaman mo na kailangan ng kaibigan ng kaibigan mo, no sorry, no explanations, no dramas, no flashbacks, just love," he said as he narrated how Aquino helped him in his senatorial bid.

Padilla said one of the reasons why he placed first in the senatorial race was because the actress "delivered the Aquino vote" for him, noting that she was worried about his survey figures in the middle of the campaign period and asked about his campaign strategy.

"Sabi ni Kris tutulungan niya ako at ginawa niya kahit sinabi ko na baka makadagdag ng stress niya. Tinawagan niya ang mga matitinding governor, LGU officials at mga matataas na tao na may paggalang at malalim na sa pasasalamat sa mga Aquino," he said.

"Hindi kailanman naging isyu sa kanya na UniTeam ako. Nagtataka ang mga nakakausap niya kung bakit ako nilalakad sa kanila pero sinasagot lang niya ito ng 'Basta, please help Robin for me,'" he added.

After learning that Aquino was battling a disease, Padilla said he and his wife Mariel Rodriguez became "more closer than ever" to the actress.

"Tumaas pa ang antas ng aming mga pinag-uusapan at pinagdidiskusyunan. Mas minulat pa namin ang isa't isa sa realidad ng pulitika at buhay," he said.

"Maraming maraming salamat Ms. Kris Aquino. Ang ating pagiging magkaibigan ay hindi naapektuhan ng pulitika bagkus ito pa ang nagbuklod sa atin. Hinding-hindi kami makakalimot," he added.

Aquino, who is in the U.S. for treatment, recently shared her diagnosis of Churg-Strauss syndrome (Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis), a rare and incurable disorder that inflames the blood vessels and restricts blood flow to organs.

"I’ll miss you- my friends & followers very much. Time is now my enemy, naghahabol kami hoping na wala pang permanent damage to the blood vessels leading to my heart," Aquino said in an Instagram post.

"For now and the next few years- sadly, it’s goodbye. Praying na kayanin ng katawan ko itong matinding pagsubok," she added.
