Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio went on medical leave starting Monday until Oct. 5, her office said. Her borther, Vice Mayor Sebastian "Baste" Duterte, will be acting mayor while she is away.
The Davao City government did not provide further details on what ails President Rodrigo Duterte's daughter, but assured constitutents that she was on top of the city's affairs.
"She will be out of town for medical purposes. She is continuously present online to meet deadlines for her office. Thank you," according to the advisory.
The city government also posted a memorandum addressed to Vice Mayor Duterte, informing him of his designation as acting mayor in his sister's stead.
