Scam Alert from BDO: Don't Trust Screenshots Alone as Proof of Payment

Online sellers should be wary of customers who send doctored screenshots as fake proofs of payment, said the country's largest bank, BDO.

How to tell if a transfer is successful? Check the recent transactions list via mobile baking app. Transfers between accounts of the same bank are reflected in real time, BDO said.

Take note too that transfers using InstaPay or PesoNet, used in nearly all mobile banking apps and e-wallets, are credited in real time, regardless if its between the same bank or different banks.

For transfers from other banks that don't use InstaPay or PesoNet can take a few days to reflect.

"Beware of scammers who send fake deposit slips or screenshots as proof as payment to pretend they've already sent money to your account!" BDO  said.
