18,937 COVID Cases Logged As Metro Rides Out Alert Level 4

The Philippines on Monday logged 18,937 new COVID-19 cases as Metro Manila rides out quarantine under Alert Level 4.

The day's infections brought the total active cases to 176,850. The Department of Health also reported 146 deaths and 20,171 recoveries.

A total of 2,385,616 COVID-19 cases have been reported since the pandemic began in March 2020. There have been 36,934 deaths and 2,171,832 recoveries in total

Metro Manila will be under Alert Level 4 status until Sept. 30. Under this new system, all areas in the capital region will following rules similar to MECQ, with a pilot run of granular lockdowns to contain the virus.

Alert Level 4 refers to areas wherein case counts are high and/or increasing, with total bed utilization rate and intensive care unit utilization rate at high utilization.
