The Philippines on Wednesday logged 12,805 new COVID-19 cases as the country moved to expand vacinations to the general public as early as October.
Active cases now stand at 132,339. There were 12,236 new recoveries and 190 deaths reported.
Total cumulative cases since the pandemic began is now at 2,535,732, of which 2,365,229 have recovered and 38,164 died.
The DOH earlier said case bulletins will be uploaded at 7 p.m. starting Sept. 29 due to technical issues with the COVIDKaya system. Once fixed, upload time will revert back to 4 p.m.
Today's case bulletin was still published at 4.p.m.
Metro Manila has a day left under Alert Level 4 of the alert-based quarantine classification system. Certain areas are under granular lockdown due to high case counts driven by Delta, which is now the dominant variant in the country.
President Rodrigo Duterte in his weekly address said vaccinations for the general public, including minors, could start as early as October. Those aged 12 to 17 years old will be prioritized, according to the DOH.
Several cities in Metro Manila have opened vaccine pre-registration to kids as more of the younger population get infected with the respiratory disease.
