Skyway Stage 3: Map, Open Ramps, Full Operations

The newly opened elevated expressway aims to decongest traffic along EDSA.

The newly-opened Skyway Stage 3 is envisioned to help ease traffic along EDSA and shorten travel times between the North and the South. It began soft operations in late December and is free for a month.

Toll is free for now.

The Skyway Stage 3 is free to motorists for the entire month of January.

It covers several areas.

The elevated expressway has 5 sections and runs for 18 kilometers.

The first section spans Buendia, Quirino, and Nagtahan. The second section covers Nagtahan, Aurora Boulevard, and Ramon Magsaysay Avenue. The third section connects Ramon Magsaysay Avenue and Quezon Avenue. The fourth section starts from Quezon Avenue and ends in Balintawak, while the fifth section connects Balintawak in Quezon City to the North Luzon Expressway Footbridge.

Travel time will be reduced.

Once fully operation, travel time between the South Luzon Expressway and NLEX will be slashed from 2 hours to only 30 minutes. Makati City and Quezon City are expected to be just 20 minutes apart.

Before 2022 ends, travel time between NAIA and Balintawak is expected to take only 20 minutes. Valenzuela and Makati will be just 15 minutes away from one another.

Several lanes are already open.

As of Dec. 29, the following lanes and ramps were open to motorists:

  • Buendia Northbound On Ramp and Southbound Off Ramp
  • Plaza Dilao Southbound On Ramp
  • Quezon Avenue Northbound and Southbound On and Off Ramp
  • Balintawak Northbound Off Ramp and Southbound On Ramp

More lanes will open this month.

By Jan. 14, all lanes at the Skyway Stage 3 are expected to be fully operational.

There are more projects like Skyway Stage 3 in the pipeline.

The Skyway Stage 3 is part of the EDSA decongestion program, which consists of 25 projects in total.

Apart from the Skyway Stage 3, some of the projects included are the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10, a 5.58-kilometer elevated expressway with 6 lanes, and the NLEX Harbor Link R10 exit ramp, a 4-lane elevated ramp which runs for 2.6 kilometers.
