Skyway management said the closure would make way for the installation of street lights and other construction activities. To ensure the safety of motorists, a strict speed limit of 60 kilometers per hour was implemented.
The 18-kilometer elevated expressway aims to decongest EDSA and slashes travel time between and Makati and the North Luzon Expressway to just 20 minutes. Travel between Alabang and NLEX takes only 30 minutes.
Its builder and operator, San Miguel Corp partially opened the Skyway Stage 3 last Dec. 29 to motorists, and would be free until the end of January. Come Jan. 14, all seven lanes will be open to motorists.
