Jamir Garcia, front man of popular rock band Slapshock, has passed away at 42. News of his death was met with an outpouring of grief from fans and fellow musicians on social media.
Garcia was found lifeless at his home in Quezon City, police said. Weeks before his death, Slapshock said they were disbanding, citing challenges brought by the pandemic, as well as personal differences.
"A fierce performer on stage, Jamir was one of the nicest and humblest rockstars we’ve had the pleasure of working with. He will truly be missed in the OPM band scene," Myx Philippines wrote in their tribute for the rock star.
Slapshock has an extensive discography and received recognitions from award-giving bodies such as Awit Awards, NU Rock Awards, and Myx Music Awards.
