The Technical Educational and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) said on April 24 that it is offering free online courses on their website to aid Filipinos in learning new skills while under quarantine.
A total of 68 short online courses are available to those who want to learn something new or wish to improve their technical skills, said TESDA Director General Secretary Isidro Lapeña.
Courses offered in the TESDA Online Program include fruit growing, finance management, cake preparation, and automotive battery servicing. There are also courses on massage therapy, web development, and beauty care services.
To help students understand the lessons, the online courses come with instructional videos and quizzes that they must pass. Enrollees who finish their course of choice will receive a certificate of completion. If students want national certification, they must make a physical appearance at technical schools to take assessment tests.
“Once na mag-normalize ang sitwasyon, kailangan mo mag-take ng assessment kasi kailangan ng physical presence para ma-assess nila ‘yong paggamit mo ng equipment at kung ang skills ay kwalipikado na,” said Lapeña.
There is no age requirement or limit so anyone can sign up for a free online course, but interested individuals must at least be computer literate, he added.
