LOOK: Parts of Siargao in Ruins After Typhoon Odette

The tourist island's airport was unroofed.

Typhoon Odette (Rai) flattened parts of Siargao with strong winds and heavy rains and damaged the roof of the surfing island's airport, Coast Guard images released Friday showed.

Siargao bore the brunt of Odette's eight landfalls from late Thursday with Signal no. 4 winds (171-220 kph). Aerial footage showed felled trees, homes without roofs and scattered debris. Coastal areas were flooded.

Odette is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday.
