Typhoon Ulysses left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday morning, state weather bureau PAGASA said as Filipinos reeled from severe floods.

As of 10 a.m., PAGASA said the eye of Ulysses was spotted at 500 km west of Iba, Zambales, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility already.

Ulysses triggered floods in parts of Metro Manila and nearby provinces--areas that were also badly-hit by preceding Super Typhoon Rolly.

At least 14 people were killed due to Ulysses based on the Friday morning tally of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. The number could go higher as authorities begin dealing with the aftermath.

Floods triggered by Ulysses drew comparisons with Typhoon Ondoy's deluge in 2009.

Ulysses carried a third of Ondoy's rainfall, according to PAGASA. Some 153 millimeters of rain was measured from late Wednesday to Thursday compared to 455 millimeters over 24 hours from Ondoy.
