The US government on Thursday donated 5,000 hygiene kits and 16 handwashing stations to the city government of Manila, as its latest contribution to the Philippines' fight against the coronavirus.
U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno were present during the turnover at the quarantine facility of the Delpan Evacuation Center in Tondo.
"The US government is a friend, partner, and ally of the Manileños in facing this pandemic. The American people are pleased to support the City of Manila's efforts to fight COVID-19," Kim said.
Each hygiene kit consists of facemasks, soap, laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid, and toothbrushes.
In late August, USAID gave 100 ventilators to the Philippines, two of which went to the city of Manila.
"The US government looks forward to continuing our strong health care cooperation with the Philippines to improve the lives of Filipinos," Kim said in a tweet.
