Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian on Thursday called on authorities to reimplement the number coding scheme and truck ban in the city due to heavy holiday season traffic.
The MMDA suspended the traffic schemes since quarantines started to ensure ease of movement for essential goods and frontliners. Gatchalian said this worsened the traffic situation in the city that is the gateway to Metro Manila from North and Central Luzon.

"Yung truck ban, remember ang Valenzuela industrial city ito and kailangan namin ang truck ban kung hindi kasi sumasabay ang malalaking truck sa rush hour," Gatchalian told Teleradyo.
(Remember, Valenzuela is an industrial city so we need the truck ban because otherwise big trucks join rush hour.)
Gatchalian also pointed to the recently implemented all-RFID cashless scheme at the North Luzon Expressway, which has slowed down traffic due to faulty sensors and errors.

"Atras abante bago ka makadaan, 'yung ibang tao napipilitan dumaan sa EDSA, MacArthur Highway para makabalik sa Valenzuela," he said.
(Motorists go back and forth, some people are forced to pass through EDSA, MacArthur just to head back to Valenzuela.)
"Di naman foolproof ang system at palyado," he added.
(The system is not foolproof and it is flawed.)
