Mayor Vico Sotto said the Pasig City government would install internet facilities to aid students in distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the Department of Education's Self-Learning Modules (SLM) doesn't require online access to study at home, parents still need to download the materials. Vico shared photos of the project, which is in cooperation with FinAsia, on his official Facebook page.

Teachers can use the high-speed internet to upload the learning modules, Sotto said.

To avoid overcrowding at the internet centers, users will be scheduled every two weeks, he said.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones had said the self-learning modules would address the needs of every learner as the need for physical distancing makes face-to-face learning impractical until a vaccine is available.
