The pro-Trump protester who wielded a walis tambo (broom) during the U.S. Capitol siege last year has pleaded guilty to multiple charges that stemmed from his role in the riot, the U.S. Department of Justice said.
Kene Brian Lazo entered his plea on March 7 and admitted that he was the protester who brought a broom and joined other pro-Trump supporters who stormed America's legislature after the losing Republican candidate claimed he was cheated in the elections.
Lazo was charged with the following offenses:
- Knowingly Entering or Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds Without Lawful Authority
- Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds Without Lawful Authority
- Disorderly Conduct on Capitol Grounds or in a Capitol Building
- Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building
During the siege, Lazo was seen wearing a makeshift Captain America costume and was wielding a walis tambo.
He was arrested in May 2021 with the help of social media and was charged in June of the same year.
