WATCH: Water Hyacinths Choke Portion of Pasig River

Pasig Ferry Service is suspended until further notice.

A legion of water hyacinths overwhelm a portion of Pasig River under Quezon Boulevard bride in Quiapo Manila. Water hyacinths are a symptom of water pollution which could be attributed to fertilizer runoffs from aquaculture farming and domestic waste, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources said.

With the plants hampering river navigation, the Pasig Ferry Service was suspended until further notice.
