The chances of another typhoon entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility before the year ends is low, state weather bureau PAGASA said Sunday as the country still recovers from the onslaught of Typhoon Odette.
"Base sa ating analysis, mababa ang tsansa na magkaroon tayo ng bagyo sa susunod na limang araw sa loob ng Philippine Area of Responsibility," said PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja in a 4 a.m. weather report.
The northeast monsoon or amihan will continue to affect weather conditions in most parts of Luzon, causing cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Aurora, and Quezon.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains are expected over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, as well as in Visayas and Mindanao.
Odette (Rai), the strongest typhoon to hit the Philippines this year, has reportedly killed a total of 378 individuals and damaged billions of pesos worth of agriculture and infrastructure, the country's disaster risk management agency said on Sunday.
The devastation caused by the typhoon prompted President Rodrigo Duterte to place six regions under state of calamity.
PAGASA earlier spotted a low pressure area heading towards Mindanao before Christmas, but it dissipated before it could turn into a storm, sparing Odette-hit areas from inclement weather.
