The Philippines on Sunday logged 603 new COVID-19 cases as the government opened booster shot slots to all fully vaccinated adults.
The day's tally brought active cases to 13,853, with a total of 1,047 new recoveries and 156 new deaths reported.
Overall, a total of 2,834,775 COVID-19 cases have been reported since the pandemic began in March 2020, of which 2,771,536 have recovered and 49,386 died.
The government allowed individuals aged 18 and above who have been fully vaccinated for over six months to receive their booster shots starting Friday, Dec. 3.
Those who were vaccinated with the single-dose Johnson&Johnson vaccine may get their booster shot even after only a three-month interval period.
The Philippines has so far fully vaccinated over 36.8 million people, and has administered over 380,000 booster shots.
