Group workouts are allowed again in Metro Manila and other areas under Alert Level 2, Malacañang said Friday as more COVID-19 restrictions are eased across the country.

The easing covers only non-contact sports and exercises, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.

"The recommendation to allow group activities for fitness studios, gyms, and venues for non-contact exercise and sports in areas under Alert Level 2 has been approved," he said in a statement.

Gyms and fitness studios were initially allowed to resume operations in Metro Manila while it was still under Alert Level 4 in October.

The use of such facilities is limited only to fully vaccinated individuals who must wear face masks and observe social distancing at all times.
