Pump Prices to Increase for Second Straight Week

Pump prices are set to increase for the second straight week on Tuesday as the Department of Energy forecasts a continuous increase in petroleum costs.

Oil firm Cleanfuel said in an advisory that it would hike prices per liter of diesel by P4.30, and gasoline by P2.15 per liter.

The price hikes mark the second straight week of increases after diesel prices rose by P6.55 per liter while gasoline prices inched up by P2.70 per liter last week.

The energy department had advised motorists to brace themselves for more fuel price hikes in the coming weeks due to several factors such as increasing global demand and the persistent war in Ukraine.

Motorists have been burdened with fuel price hikes for the most of 2022 which prompted the government to provide free rides in Metro Manila and fuel subsidies to public utility vehicle drivers.

The DOE advised motorists to take advantage of promo programs in gasoline stations to alleviate the burden of soaring fuel prices.
