Celine Pialago Running for Party-List Representative, Leaves MMDA

Beauty queen turned public servant Celine Pialago on Wednesday filed her candidacy for representative of partylist Malasakit Movement, a non-government organization that she co-founded. She also resigned as spokesperson of the MMDA.

Pialago, who also works with the government anti-communist task force NTF-ELCAC, said she would advocate for frontline workers.

“Under my banner, I will work for standard benefits of barangay representatives, kagawads, barangay tanod frontliners and barangay health workers,” she said.

Pialago said she would also push for better hazard benefits for medical workers to improve their living, she said.

Should Pialago win, she will join the Makabayan bloc of progressive lawmakers in the House of Representatives. At the NTF-ELCAC, she accused these representatives of links to the communist rebellion, which the lawmakers denied.

Asked if she could work with the Makabayan bloc, she said: "Makakaasa po ang NTF-ELCAC na magiging boses din po nila ako sa Kongreso."
