The Commission on Elections on Monday warned against scammers who solicit money from candidates to ensure their victory in the 2022 elections, saying such could not be possible.

The poll body received numerous reports over the weekend about individuals introducing themselves as either Comelec representatives or its service providers telling politicians that they can "buy" their election win, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said.

"This is false. This is the same kind of scam that's been ran on unsuspecting politicians since 2010," he told a press conference.

"We'd like to remind everyone, we'd like to remind the politicians especially not to be mistaken or misled into believing that this is possible," he added.

Jimenez said scammers would approach all candidates offering them the chance to win the elections. Whoever wins keeps the position, while those who lose will get a refund.

The Comelec is expected to release the final list of candidates for the 2022 elections on Dec. 15.
