The Philippines on Sunday logged 2,227 new COVID-19 cases as the entire Philippines transitions to the alert-based COVID-19 restriction system starting Nov. 22.
The day's tally brought active cases to 21,101, with a total of 3,152 new recoveries and 175 new deaths reported.
Overall, a total of 2,826,410 COVID-19 cases have been reported since the pandemic began in March 2020, of which 2,758,235 have recovered and 47,074 died.
The inter-agency task force on COVID-19 has approved the implementation of the Phase 4 of the COVID-19 Alert Level System, placing the remaining regions in the country under respective alert levels from Nov. 22 until Nov. 30.
The alert-based COVID-19 restriction system aims to avoid large-scale lockdowns and allow the broader economy to operate.
Malacañang earlier announced the alert levels for other areas in the country, with Metro Manila remaining under Alert Level 2 until the end of the month.
