2,730 COVID Cases Logged on Valentine's Day, Lowest for 2022

The Philippines on Monday logged 2,730 new COVID-19 cases on Valentine's day, the lowest single day increase for 2022 so far.

The day's tally beat the previous record of 3,050 infections logged yesterday.

Active cases are down to 76,609, with a total of 7,456 new recoveries and 164 deaths.

Overall, a total of 3,639,942 COVID-19 cases have been reported since the pandemic began in March 2020, of which 3,508,239 have recovered and 55,094 died.

Alert Level 2 in Metro Manila is extended until the end of February. Alert Level 1, the lowest set of restrictions, could be declared once certain indicators are met.

Under Alert Level 2, children are allowed outdoors for leisure activities. Those under 18 years old are allowed in establishments that can operate at a maximum 50% capacity indoors and 70% capacity outdoors based on guidelines issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 response.

Movements both intrazonal (within Metro Manila) and interzonal (in and out of Metro Manila) are allowed subject to possible restrictions to be imposed by local government units.
