11,010 New COVID Cases Logged as Gov't Allows Kids in NCR to Travel

The Philippines on Saturday logged 11,010 additional cases of COVID-19 as the government further eased restrictions, including allowing children in Metro Manila to travel to areas under GCQ and MGCQ.

The day's tally brought the number of active cases to 106,558. A total of 22,529 new recoveries and 273deaths were also reported.

Overall, a total of 2,654,450 COVID-19 cases have been reported since the pandemic began in March 2020, of which 2,508,387 have recovered and 39,505 died.

Malacañang on Friday said those below 18 years old from Metro Manila are aloowed only travel from point to point subject to guidelines and health protocols as may be prescribed by the Department of Tourism and the local government unit of destination.

Starting Oct. 15, minors aged 15 to 17 in Metro Manila will be given COVID vaccines with priority given to those with comorbidities, Health Sec. Francisco Duque III earlier said.
