The province of Davao Oriental will be placed under ECQ from Sept. 8-22, its governor Nelson Dayanghirang announced Friday as the area battles an increase in COVID-19 cases.

Mayors of the province and the provincial Inter-Agency Task Force on pandemic response have agreed to impose stricter COVID-19 protocols, Dayanghirang said in a Facebook post.

The following restrictions will be enforced during the ECQ or Enhanced Community Quarantine, according to provincial authorities:

  • Curfew hours will be from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • 24-hour liquor ban
  • Wakes are limited to only three days
  • Strict border control to deter non-essential travels.
  • There will be increased visibility of law enforcers who will give citation tickets to violators
  • Strict establishment monitoring

So far, COVID-19 cases in Davao Oriental have already reached 5,583, of which 1,227 are active according to the provincial government.
