Limited Indoor Dining, Grooming Services Allowed During MECQ

Restrictions good until May 14.

Indoor dining can resume in areas under modified enhanced community quarantine or MECQ, Malacañang said Thursday as prevailing COVID-19 restrictions were extended until May.

Restaurants and other food establishments can resume dine-in services at 10% seating capacity, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said. A bigger capacity may be allowed as long as the establishment complies with the government's Safety Seal Certification Program, he said.

Initially, the government only allowed outdoor dining in areas under MECQ.

Salons can reopen

Beauty salons, barbershops, and nail spas were also allowed to resume operations at 30% capacity, Roque said.

"Moreover, these establishments shall only provide services that can accommodate the wearing of face masks at all times by clients and service providers," he said.

Like food establishments, Roque said businesses offering personal care services may operate at a bigger capacity if they comply with the government's Safety Seal Certification Program.

The MECQ in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal was extended for another two weeks until May 14. COVID-19 protocols however are more relaxed for the duration of the extension.
