Manila Bay's dolomite beach got a new coat of sand for the summer, photos showed Wednesday. The tropical escape in the city was built for the mental health of millions under quarantine, officials had said.
The patch of white sand, made from crushed dolomite rocks, is getting a face lift as Metro Manila and surrounding provinces returned to strict quarantines, ECQ at the start of April and MECQ by mid-month. It's among the longest lockdowns in the world.

Since Tuesday, heavy equipment were seen laying a fresh coat of sand on the reclaimed area near the U.S. Embassy compound.
The man-made beach opened to large crowds last year but was eventually closed as onlookers failed to observe physical distancing.
