President Rodrigo Duterte has approved additional funding of P3.783 billion for the government's cash aid or ayuda program for areas under lockdown or ECQ this August, a budget official said Thursday.
The additional funding will cover the provinces of Laguna, Bataan, and augment the cash aid needed for Metro Manila, Department of Budget and Management Usec. Rolly Toledo said.
"Kakatanggap lang po namin ng approval ng presidente ngayong umaga at kasalukuyang hinahanda ng DBM ang mga kailangang budget documents," Toledo said.
The funding is expected to be released by the Bureau of Treasury by Friday, he added.
Data from the DBM showed that some P10 billion has been released so far for ayuda in Metro Manila.
President Duterte earlier approved the grant of a P1,000 aid with a limit of P4,000 per family in areas under ECQ this August.
Metro Manila, which is under ECQ until Aug. 20, started distributing cash aid on Wednesday.
