President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the distribution of a P1,000-aid or ayuda for those in areas that will be placed under enhanced community quarantine or ECQ in August, Malacañang said Thursday.

A limit of P4,000 per family will be implemented as part of the cash aid program, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said. The funds will come from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Iloilo City, Iloilo Province, Cagayan de Oro City, and Gingoog City will be under the strictest lockdown level from Aug. 1-7.

Inaprubahan po ng Presidente ang pagbigay ng P1,000 tulong sa mga nangangailangang mga kababayan natin na nasa mga areas sa ilalim ng ECQ," Roque said during a Palace press briefing.

Authorities have said that the community quarantine protocols are subject to appeal and change given the local transmission of the highly contagious delta variant of coronavirus.
