President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday appointed Lt. Gen. Dionardo Carlos to be the next chief of the Philippine National Police.
Carlos, who holds the fourth-highest post in the PNP as chief directorial staff, will succeed Gen. Guillermo Eleazar who retires on Nov. 13.
A member of the Philippine Military Academy "Maringal" Class of 1988, Carlos is a junior of Eleazar who belongs to the PMA "Hinirang" Class of 1987.
Carlos has served as spokesperson of the PNP during the leadership of then chief and now senator, Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa, when the bloody war on drugs started.
He has also served as director for Integrated Police Operations in Visayas and in Southern Luzon.
