A magnitude 5.1 quake struck land near Magsaysay, Davao del Sur on Thursday, 2:24 p.m., according to Phivolcs.
Aftershocks are expected, state seismologists said.

"Ang lugar na 'yan ay madalas nang lindolin since October 2019 kasi may magkakatabing fault na gumagalaw. Iyan po rin ay isang lindol na kadugtong ng mga pangyayari noong October na 'yung magkakapitbahay na fault ay nati-trigger kumilos," Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum told dzBB on Thursday afternoon.
A series of quakes generated by the Cotabato Fault System jolted Cotabato and its neighbor provinces in October 2019.
A magnitude 6.3 quake struck Cotabato on October 16, 2019, 7:37 p.m., followed by magnitudes 6.6 and 6.1 on October 29, 9:04 a.m. and 10:42 a.m. respectively.
