Distribution of cash aid or ayuda in the provinces of Bataan and Laguna will start "within the week", the Department of the Interior and Local Government said late Monday, on the last week of the lockdown in those areas.
Some P700 million in funds were allocated for Bataan while P2.7 billion was set aside for Laguna, Interior Sec. Eduardo Año said in a meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte and other Cabinet officials.
Both Laguna and Bataan are under enhanced community quarantine or ECQ until Aug. 20 and 22, respectively.
"Within the week po ay magsisimula na ang paamimigay ng ayuda at sisiguraduhin nating makakaabot sa mga nangangailangan at walang abuso o anumang korapsyon na magaganap," Año said.
President Duterte earlier approved the grant of a P1,000 aid with a limit of P4,000 per family in areas under ECQ this August. Last week, he approved additional funding of P3.783 billion for the government's cash aid program to cover areas outside of Metro Manila that were also placed under ECQ.
