Pole Vaulter EJ Obiena Misses Medal Finish in Tokyo Olympics

Ernesto John "EJ" Obiena missed out on a podium finish at the Olympic finals of the men's pole vault in Tokyo on Tuesday.

Obiena, who ranks sixth worldwide, bowed out of podium contention after failing to clear 5.80 meters after three attempts.

Only two Filipino athletes so far have won a medal for the sport-- Simeon Toribio, and Miguel White--both of who won bronze medals in the 1932 Los Angeles and 1936 Berlin Olympics.
