Ely Buendia Asks Why BIR Can't Touch Some Tax Cheats

He also remixes 'Metro' for Leni-Kiko.

Filipino rock legend Ely Buendia late on Thursday asked on Twitter why the BIR can't run after some people who owe the people "tons of money", which smacks of elitism.

The former Eraserheads frontman also released a new version of his solo single "Metro", now a campaign song for presidential candidate Leni Robredo and her vice presidential running mate Kiko Pangilinan.

"When the BIR can’t even do anything about certain individuals who owe us tons of money, isn’t that the very definition of elitism? Fight me," Buendia said, punctuating his post with a grinning emoji.

Robredo's chief rival, the late dictator's son Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., has run a campaign preaching unity while refusing to engage his opponents in debates about his family's ill-gotten wealth.

The estate of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. owes the government P203 billion in estate taxes, based on official documents from the BIR.
